Amaranth is from the Greek, meaning “that which does not wither”. The intention of Amaranth Eurythmy Theater is to open the window of the soul so that what might wither within our heart will endure instead. Into the death surrounding us, we bring an impulse for new birth. We will do this through stage art and workshops that nurture and value this process for the participants. We honor it in our work together as artists creating meaningful, relevant art.
Christina Beckhas had a distinguished 40-year career performing and teaching eurythmy throughout Europe and North America. She trained at Emerson College in England and at the Eurythmeum Stuttgart Germany, receiving a stage diploma from Else Klink and becoming a member of the Stuttgart Eurythmeum Stage Group. She taught at the Washington Waldorf School in Maryland and founded Novalis Eurythmy Inc. She was a core faculty member at Eurythmy Spring Valley and of the ESV Stage Group while directing the Educational Eurythmy Training. At present, she teaches at the Emerson Waldorf School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and gives private master classes and courses for eurythmists.
Beatrice Voigt has performed and taught artistic speech and drama across North America and Europe, appearing with the Spring Valley Mystery Drama Group, Eurythmy Witten/Annen, Eurythmy Spring Valley, Hostia, the Harlotry Players, Spontaneous Me, and others. Beatrice graduated from the School of Speech and Drama at the Goetheanum, Switzerland and studied the Michael Chekhov acting technique with Ted Pugh, Fern Sloan, and Dawn Langman. She has been a class teacher and taught German as well as speech and drama. She is now a self-employed speech artist.
